In addition, Ericsson predicts that by 2020 there will 50 billion connected ”devices”. LTE radio network products will have a number of features to help simplify and reduce cost of the building and management of next-generation networks. This is known as Self Organizing Networks (SON) which includes features such as self-configuration and self-optimization thereby minimizing the intervention needed by operations staff.
LTE will be deployed in parallel with simplified, IP-based core and transport networks that are easier to build and maintain.
