2007 Press Releases
Ericsson opens the doors for global and local, mobile content and service providers in New Zealand

At Convergence Oceania in Auckland, Ericsson today introduced its Internet Payment eXchange (IPX) to the New Zealand market. After rapid growth in Australia, Ericsson IPX opens the New Zealand market to foreign mobile content and service providers and gives local providers the ability to access more than two billion mobile users globally.

A "one-stop connection and collection point" for mobile distribution and micro-payments, Ericsson IPX greatly simplifies the business model between service and content providers, mobile operators and consumers.

Requiring no new relationship, extra hardware or complicated registration procedures, A cost-efficient solution, IPX reduces the complexity and number of economical and technical relationships that an operator and a service/content provider must manage when expanding into new markets.

"Together with IPX, service and content providers gain mobile billing access to two billion mobile subscribers," said Linda Stanojevic, Regional Manager Ericsson IPX, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. "While IPX provides a tremendous opportunity for local companies to expand internationally with us we are also are excited to offer the New Zealand market to our global customers; the first one being Pitch with its Splash Mobile service."

With more than 90 operators using the service, Ericsson IPX is one of the world's most trusted SMS and premium SMS aggregators.

"IPX customers can take advantage of Ericsson's technical expertise and market knowledge while using our extensive operator connections to tap into other markets such as Australia, India and China," added Stanojevic.

White label facilitator
Ericsson's IPX service facilitates the payment and distribution of mobile content while seamlessly interconnecting mobile service and content providers and mobile operators. IPX handles the payments by making use of the existing financial relationship between operators and consumers.

Ericsson IPX focuses on mobile premium and non-premium connectivity via Online Mobile Billing, WEB, MMS and SMS.  Furthermore, IPX is a non-branded, white label service that is never visible to the consumers. IPX customers worldwide include broadcast media, newspapers, large corporations, and digital mobile content and application providers.
