Ericsson Australia today announced the integration of TUSC Computer Systems into the Ericsson business, effective 1 September, 2008. TUSC was acquired by Ericsson in November, 2005.
The integration further strengthens Ericsson’s local expertise and capability in the telecommunications provider, government and utilities markets. The move combines Ericsson’s comprehensive network and technology portfolio, professional services portfolio, brand strength and financial backing with TUSC’s extensive IT and operational network management experience and local customer base.
The integration also sees the creation of a new Ericsson business unit to take the combined solution portfolio to the government, utility and enterprise sectors, led by John Kelly, formerly TUSC’s CEO and Ericsson Director of Enterprise and Government. Mr Kelly’s new role is Ericsson Director of Government, Utilities and Industry.
“Our combined, end-to-end solution portfolio enables customers to transform the way they manage their IT, operational and communications networks. It offers significant cost and risk reduction for customers who can now deal with a single provider capable of working effectively across all these domains,” said John Kelly, Ericsson Director of Government, Utilities and Industry.
The Ericsson solution portfolio for utilities is being launched at the National Power Australia 2008 conference on Monday, 1 September in Sydney.
TUSC’s blue-chip customers include Alinta Australia, Department of Defence, ENERGEX, South Australia Water, SPAusnet, City West Water, Tasmanian Government, Gold Coast City Council, Goldman Sachs JB Were, National Australia Bank, VENCorp and Yarra Valley Water.
“We are now well positioned to address the large market opportunities in the utilities, government and telecommunications markets around smart metering, field force automation, ICT infrastructure management and telecom and utility operational management systems,” said Mr Kelly.
The integration will also provide international career development and training opportunities for TUSC staff, ensure all customer projects are delivered using Ericsson’s best practice systems and processes and achieve operational efficiencies through some rationalizing of corporate services and consolidation of facilities.
