Ericsson and other major Operations Support Systems (OSS) providers, are taking the lead on OSS interoperability with a new initiative to enable the use of vendors’ OSS interfaces outside of those defined by standards organizations. To help operators simplify network operations and reduce costs, the companies have agreed to cross-license such OSS interfaces for multi-vendor network management.
The EARTH energy-efficiency project, in which Ericsson has a leading role, has won the Future Internet Award (FIA), granted by the Coordination of the European Future Internet Forum of Member States (ceFIMS), which is funded by the European Commission. The announcement was made on May 11 during the closing plenary of the Future Internet Week in Aalborg, Denmark.
