She sees a media landscape where self-expression has replaced entertainment and where readers want to be part of the news stories themselves, rather than simply read about them.

Brenda Walker - Creative minds flourishing

Brenda Walker. Remember what you have read about the dark times for musicians, filmmakers and writers? Music industry veteran Brenda Walker claims the opposite. Technology has overcome limitations and blurred the boundaries between different art forms. Finally, she says, artists can truly realize their visions.

Extract from Brenda Walker on Creative minds flourishing

Brenda Walker: Brenda Walker

Brenda Walker: I think it is an incredibly fertile time for artists. There is no cap on what you can do in terms of expressing your creativity. Because the tools are there in terms of technology to make it happen. Brenda Walker thinks one of the most exciting things about the times that we live in is that we haven't yet seen what an artist might do with the technology to create something new. There is no limit to the capacity of the creative mind. If you want to have a problem solved, allow a creative person to address the problem. If we look at what's happening in technology, whether it will be for writing, if it will be for publishing, for music, for film, for television, creative people have not yet been turned loose with the tools to see what new art they might create from it. And Brenda Walker do think that ultimately, it's going to come from a creative mind saying: I have unlimited bandwith, I have unlimitied storage, I can create anything. What do I want to present to my audience? What do I want fans to hear? What do I want them to know? I think we live in an era where it's easier for creative people to pick up different things and try their hands at it. Every computer programmer I know is as a musician. Every musician I know is a photographer or a designer. And people are finding these tools making it easier for them to express themselves in this different media. And there will be those artists who will come along and combine them in a way that we haven't yet seen. I wish I could tell you who, because I would be working exactly with them. I will keep looking though.
