A recent developer event hosted by Ericsson in Argentina brought leading IT and media companies from the region together for a discussion on trends and opportunities in the applications universe.

The Developer Days seminar held June 24 at Ericsson's office in Buenos Aires was attended by over 50 professionals from some of Latin America’s leading IT firms as well as international media companies. The event also featured guest speakers from Microsoft, Nielsen, Sun and Nokia.

Patrik Hedlund, innovation director at Ericsson, says that the purpose of the event was to educate local developers about opportunities for reaching a mass market with their applications.

“Many of the developers in South America are small companies and they are interested in how Ericsson Developer Connection can help them market and sell their applications,” he says.

Feedback from the seminar was generally very positive and the majority of participants thought the presentations were useful and that the event was a good opportunity for exchanging ideas with other developers.

Hedlund says that many of the participants appreciated the cross-platform agenda. Speakers including those from Microsoft and Sun talked about how their tools can help developers create applications for mass market consumption.

Ericsson Developer Connection helps developers bring their applications to market though its application store solution for operators. Hedlund says that that solution generated a lot of interest from participants hoping to take advantage of the rapidly growing application store opportunity.
