Tips 1: SMIL

When developing MMS applications you need to use the language SMIL, but what is it and how can XML be transformed with the help of XSLT into SMIL? Go to http://www.helio.org/products/smil/tutorial to get to the online SMIL tutorial. If you also develop dynamic applications, you will have to transform your data from XML/DOM into SMIL to be able to send it as an MMS from your application to a mobile, which can be done with the appropriate developer kit, such as the coming Ericsson MMS SDK. The XSLT language easily does the transformation job. Read all about it at: http://www.zvon.org/xxl/XSLTutorial/Output/index.html

Tips 2: Proxy server

If you are developing network-based J2ME applications with the Wireless Tool Kit 2.0 (WTK), it can sometimes be difficult to get out of your company’s intranet to test your J2ME applications against server-based services on the Internet. There is a solution, however. Simply state the proxy server’s address in the WTK.
