Q: When will feature phones supporting the new JSR 281 be available commercially?

A: The JSR 281 will be supported in the new ST Ericsson platform (http://www.stericsson.com/platforms/hspa_u335.jsp). Feature phones using this platform can be seen on the market at Q4 2009 at the earliest.

Solution:

3. What JavaME phones are supported by the IJCU and network proxy solution?

Q: What JavaME phones are supported by the IJCU and network proxy solution?

A: The solution supports MIDP 2.0/CLDC 1.1-based phones that allow Java MIDlet downloads, and provides the following IMS functions:

  • Registration
  • Publication
  • Subscription
  • Instant Messaging
  • Chat (require JSR 75 support within the phones)
  • File Transfer (require JSR 75 support within the phones)

Several phones have been tested and are compliant while tests are ongoing on others models. The current results are described here.

Feature phones that have been tested with IJCU are the following:

  • Motorola RAZR V6 with software R26111VL-AS_U_96.80.51R
  • Nokia XPressMusic 5300 with software version V 05.51 05-09-07 RM-146
  • SEMC K800 (JP-7) with software version R1JG001
  • SEMC Z750 (JP-8) with software version R1CA036
  • SEMC W910 (JP-8) with software version R1CA039

Open-OS smart phones can also be supported in this mode as long as they support MIDP 2.0/CLDC 1.1-based phones that allow Java MIDlet downloads

Smarphones that have been tested with IJCU are the following:

  • The P1 phone with software R9J005 has failed chat and file transfer. We are awaiting the next firmware update to resume our tests.
  • The SEMC K850 (JP-8) remains to be tested for chat and file transfer, but is expected to work.

Please share on the SDS forum your results using IJCU on different phones so as to help other developers using or planning to use IJCU.

4. My IJCU client sends REGISTER requests, but does not receive any 200 OK message. Why not?

Q: My IJCU client sends REGISTER requests, but does not receive any 200 OK message. Why not?

A: The SIP container's address changed and you must reflect this change in the IPS application's deployment descriptors (sip.xml and web.xml).

Solution: To change the address of the SIP Container in the configuration files, do the following:

  1. Go to the directory where the sip.xml and web.xml files are located. By default, this is C:\Ericsson\SDS4.1\RemoteAgent\applications\sipcontainer\webapps\zeProxyServer\WEB-INF.
  2. If the zeProxyServer directory does not exist, create it by starting, then stopping the SIP Container:
    • To start the SIP Container, in Eclipse go to Java EE perspective, Server Tab, SIP Container, right click on it and choose start,. Starting the SIP Container takes about half a minute.
    • To stop the SIP Container, in Eclipse go to Java EE perspective, Server Tab, SIP Container, right click on it and choose stop.
  3. Open the sip.xml and web.xml files in a text editor.
  4. Modify the following parameters:
    • In web.xml:
      • ContactHeaderHostPort: put the SIP Container IP address
      • OutboundProxy: put the CSCF IP address
    • In sip.xml
      • request.uri.host: modify both instances of this parameter with the SIP Container IP address

Note that this has to be done in addition to usual configuration in the SDS GUI (Preferences page) for the CSCF server.
