Mobile Front Controller (MFC) is a light-weight Java EE web application framework for creating web applications for web browsing and mobile browsing.

Note: This SDK is still available for download but Ericsson has discontinued development activities and will no longer provide support.

This framework is best suited for creating web applications making your content available for both web and mobile browsers that share content and application logic. All you need to know to start using the framework is standard Java and servlet JSP.

MFC template application
The MFC template application is a web application that is based on the MFC library. The application contains an example of a custom view handler and an action command. No third-party libraries are needed to run the application, which makes it suitable to start developing from.

Long polling example application
The long polling example application contains a web application that handles long polling and two types of clients that request data asynchronously. The clients use XHTML-MP/Ajax and JavaFX Script. Long polling can be used for, for example, presence updating and instant messaging.

Login example application
The login example application shows how to use a database for login functionality in a web application. The example application includes a utility library that simplifies database management.

Certificate generator
The certificate generator contains Ant scripts for generating a self-signed root certificate and a certificate that is authenticated by the root certificate. The kit also includes Ant scripts for importing the certificates to Tomcat and GlassFish.

Basic example application
The basic example application includes solutions for:

  • JNDI for JavaBean
  • Custom tag for browser detection
  • Ajax
  • HTTP SSL – using OpenSSL
  • Blog
  • File upload
  • Feeds (RSS and Atom)
  • Session countdown timer
  • Web services

NetBeans plugin for MFC
The NetBeans plugin integrates the MFC library with NetBeans. This plugin also includes file templates that simplifies the creation of new action commands and view handlers.

The example applications contain Ant scripts for building and deploying the applications to Tomcat and GlassFish.
