J2EE Web Application Template |
Wednesday, November 29, 2006
The WebAppTemplate is a support when developing mobile internet applications built on Apache Tomcat and leverages such technologies as WAP/WEB, WAP Push, SMS, Payment and Web Services.
Note: There is a new version of the template, called Java EE Mobile Web Application. Some of the new improvements are a new architecture and support for MMS over SAMS-M API (JSR-212). In the J2EE Web Application Template architecture, the mobile services are based on servlets technology. In the new architecture, the solution is based on a mobile front controller pattern and a Java bean concept to include mobile services.
The application template is a reference implementation intended primarily for VASP (Value-Added Service Provider) applications that reside on internet-based servers rather than inside a mobile operator's network. It is also integrated with IPX (Internet Payment eXchange), Ericsson's mobile payment service. The target users are Java developers who want to integrate mobile services with J2EE web container-based application development.
The WebAppTemplate is a code template, as well as a demo application, that helps in the rapid development of applications by allowing developers to use it as a foundation instead of building an application from scratch. This application template is based on J2EE Web container technology that implements one common control for combined WAP/WEB applications providing mobile services.
The provided WebAppTemplate package contains the complete source code with code comments, all configuration files, build scripts, a user-guide and operation and maintenance documentation. By Ping Li & Peter Yeung
