The JCA connector kit describes how to integrate Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) with a native service enabler API using JCA connector technology. In our example we use the MPS SDK to show how this can be implemented.

JCA connector is a complementary development kit (CDK) to Ericsson’s Mobile Positioning System (MPS) software development kit (SDK). The purpose of the CDK is to present Java Connector Architecture (JCA), which is a technology for connecting an application server with an Enterprise Information System (EIS). The CDK includes an example application that shows how a JCA connector works and how it can be developed.

Applications that can be developed using JCA connector for MPS are EJB applications that use native APIs that are not allowed in an EJB container. An example is an API implementation for communication that uses multithreading and socket communication.

A scenario is an MPS application implemented in EJB in the operator network using the native MPS API implementation that needs a JCA connector to integrate with the application logic in EJB components.

JCA is a quite complex technology and is useful for EJB developers having an API implementation that needs to be integrated with application logic in EJB. Using this solution, the development company doesn’t need to have special experts for JCA integration. Development costs and time can therefore be reduced.

JCA codes have been updated and adapted to the latest Sun GlassFish environment together with Sun Microsystems.
