Ericsson Multiscreen SDK and Portals

Image

The Ericsson Multiscreen SDK and Portals contain a complete software development kit and example reference portals to use when creating and customizing customer TV portal solutions.

The Ericsson Multiscreen SDK and Portals have a modular architecture and include:

  • Software Development Kit (SDK) for development of browser based portals.
  • Portal Base for running the applications.
  • Reference Applications.

The solution design enables applications to be agnostic to the look and feel, language, markup technology, device, and from where the data is fetched (server, TV stream or locally on device). The Multiscreen Middleware features and functionality is presented to the end user through a Portal. The Portal SDK is the abstraction and integration layer between the Multiscreen Middleware and the Portal. The purpose of the framework is to provide a toolkit for all portal customization projects to be able to build a portal with the desired look and feel, but without needing to readdress the complex interactive TV functionality from scratch.

Business Benefits

The Multiscreen SDK and Portals facilitate portal and client development for service providers in a speedy manner, with reduced cost and complexity, and increased flexibility. The framework has a layered architecture containing several published APIs on different levels when building the customized TV portal, and includes reusable portal examples. The SDK supports easy application development and integration of third-party ones. The flexibility of customization can be managed either by Ericsson, third-parties, or by operators themselves. The Portal SDK, as the name suggests, is a kit used for software development of portals. It shortens time-to-market, speeds up development, and reduces complexity. It provides flexibility to build a user interface that fits the specific service provider’s requirements.

Why Ericsson

In addition, Ericsson recognizes that the path to a successful multi-screen delivery infrastructure is complex and ever-evolving.  A "one-size-fits-all" or "plug-and-play" approach does not work given the unique histories, capabilities, and consumer needs of each TV service provider.  Each customer's situation requires a tailor-made solution with the right selection of components and services that is specific for their business.  Ericsson is not only a vendor with 20 years of delivering award-winning products but a strategic partner, with 2000+ video service professionals worldwide, who can help with multi-screen solutions planning, implementation, management, and support.

Multiscreen SDK and Portals product is available to purchase as a standalone product or as part of Ericsson Multiscreen TV Solution.
