- Wins ‘Outstanding Technology Innovation’ award at Connected TV Summit
- Gains further industry recognition for innovative TV viewing experience
- Companion second screen enables content discovery, media sharing between devices and home management
Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) today announced that the Ericsson IPTV Remote has been named a winner in the ‘Outstanding Technology Innovation’ category at the inaugural Connected TV Awards 2011, marking further success for the solution which addresses the growing consumer desire for the individual TV experience.
The award was presented at the Connected TV Summit, London, 18-19 May, where there was a key focus on solutions that address the increasingly fragmented TV content consumption landscape, and on delivering a unified experience that consumers can easily navigate and find the content they want to watch.
"The Ericsson IPTV Remote provides the missing link between what is available on the market today and what consumers are seeking. It enables them to have more control over their digital entertainment devices and enhances the television viewing experience, while simultaneously providing an operator branded, user friendly touch screen to access key information and applications, such as access to social networks or home management," said Staffan Pehrson, Head of Solution Area TV, Ericsson. "This revolutionary device truly changes the way consumers interact with the television, while providing operators with new ways to create and offer new revenue generating applications, increase customer satisfaction, enhance customer loyalty and build brand recognition."
The Ericsson IPTV Remote offers a single interface for controlling linear and on-demand TV, Internet video and any media stored on a PC or network storage. Content controlled can be images, video or audio. The IPTV Remote can be used as a secondary screen for web surfing and social media interaction with other viewers.
The Connected TV Awards highlight the outstanding achievements in this new category of television and are open to all stakeholders in the TV value chain.
The second annual Connected TV Summit, May 18th & 19th, London brings together the CE vendor, service provider, broadcaster, content owner, ISP and advertising communities to explore the potential new services and the business and technology challenges created by connected devices. Produced by Videonet, this conference looks beyond the inevitable disruption to new partnerships, and explores the roles and strategies for different stakeholders in creating the post-convergence TV viewing experience.
