There are many opportunities for personal growth and career development at Ericsson. How you as an individual succeed has a lot to do with your own ambition and drive; take charge of your career and dare to take a chance, this is the advice offered by Ericsson recruiters.
Ericsson is leading the fast developing world of telecommunications and has a global presence with offices in more than 100 countries. The company thrives on front-edge competence and innovation, and on employees willing to constantly develop.
“In the fast pace and ever changing world that is a reality today, we all have to assume responsibility for our own development and progress; the company can support – but you and only you can make it happen,” Monica Westberg, at Ericsson’s recruitment team, says.
“You must be active,” Monica continues. “There are plenty of chances for career development, but the starting point and prerequisite for moving on is to deliver in your current position – you must qualify every day.”
To encourage motivated, skilled and high-performing employees to stay with Ericsson, measures are taken to promote and engage the talented:
- Internal mobility is prioritized, which gives employees opportunities to broaden or deepen their competence and gain new experiences by working in another organization, within another job area or even outside their native countries.
- The Management Planning program and Leadership Assessment Centers systematically identify, train and coach potential future managers.
- Individual Performance Management discussions between manager and employee sets mutual expectations, next steps in terms of development areas or desires and lays out the career path for each and every co-worker.
Promoting existing talents is important, but so is recruiting new ones. “The company is always searching for latest, cutting edge competence,” Monica says, “but in the end the business situation sets the stage, also in terms of recruitment.”
One way for Ericsson to stay in touch with new talents is the close cooperation with a number of universities and educational institutions around the world. There are several channels for students to get in contact with Ericsson during their studies through educational visits, internships and trainee programs.
