Rationalization of competing Ericsson/ITT interests in Mexico and Argentina achieved in principle. Ericsson in Sweden starts cash register manufacture.
1937
Share capital reduced by 30 percent.
1938
Ericsson starts to manufacture electron tubes at AB Svenska Elektronror, SER. The construction of new head offices and factory starts at Midsommarkransen.
1939
Status quo agreement with ITT in Mexico. World War II begins. Factory employs around 3,500 employees. SRA introduces Radiola home radio receivers.
1940
LM Ericsson begins the move to the new offices and factory at Midsommarkransen. LM Ericsson substantially involved in manufacture of ammunition and machine guns. Reduces holding in UK company to under 50 percent to avoid seizure for trading with the enemy. LM Ericsson forms Panama Corporacion Teleric as a safe haven for its assets in Latin American companies. LM Ericsson involved in manufacture of exchanges incorporating Televerket's crossbar switches.
1941
Shareholder dividends reinstated. Factory employs around 2,800 employees.
1942
Factory employs around 3,500. Echo radar tests by SEA. Helge Ericson becomes Managing Director of LM Ericsson.
1943
A/B Alpha's factory at Sundbyberg was extended to meet the growing need for plastic molded products. A staff training department was formed.
1944
FATME factory seriously damaged. SRA delivers first police mobile radio systems. Foundation of LM Ericsson's long-service gold medal scheme.
1945
Development under way on LM Ericsson's crossbar systems. Five month general engineering strike in Sweden. The Ulvsunda factory opens.
1946
The Katrineholm factory opens. LM Ericsson establishes foundation for research into television. Instrument and meter departments combined in a new company, LM Ericsson Matinstrument AB. AT & T sets up first commercial mobile telephone network in St. Louis, USA.
1947
Mexeric's operations transferred to Telefonos de Mexico S.A. with 10-year supply agreement. The Grondal factory opens as well as the Karlskrona factory opens. AT & T brought out cellular mobile telephone concept.
1948
Labour-Management councils instituted. The Soderhamn factory opens. LM Ericsson receives first order for metropolitan crossbar in Helsinki.
1949
First Danish orders for LM Ericsson's crossbar local exchanges. LM Ericsson sells out in the UK. The radio tower added at Midsommarkransen. Radar manufacture begins.
1950
First LM Ericsson crossbar metropolitan exchanges in service in Finland. Mextelco's operations transferred to Telefonos de Mexico S.A. with a new supply agreement. First coaxial cable installation in Sweden. Televerket sets up the first mobile telephone system in Sweden. World's first automatic international call placed through trial LM Ericsson exchange. Sven Ture Aberg takes over as Managing Director of LM Ericsson.
