1966
Compensation for war losses received from Germany. The Ostersund factory, the 23 in Sweden outside the Stockholm area, openes. North Electric Co is sold.
1967
Prototype laser distance-measuring and range-finder systems delivered to the Swedish Navy and to Finland. Televerket mobile telephony study group recommends full national cellular mobile telephone service.
1968
First computer controlled, SPC, exchange, AKE 12, installed in Tumba, Sweden.
1969
First LM Ericsson Keyset phones. ERMI electricity meter company sold. The APO awards Pitt Street, Sydney, contract to ITT for Metaconta. Nordic Telecommunications Conference sets up a pan-Nordic NMT Group to define mobile telephone system.
1970
Computer-Controlled airborne doppler radar systems with digital signal processor delivered in Sweden. Advanced satellite systems supplied to ESRO. Ellemtel established. NMT Group recommendations Submitted. Tellus building opened at Midsommarkransen.
1971
First Ericsson picture phones. UAC 1610 computer goes into production. Ellemtel receives requirement specification for all-new SPC switch. Specialized Common Carrier principle established in the US. World's first SPC STD exchange (AKE 13) installed in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
1972
Teleindustria de Mexico Moves to Tlalnepantla. Decision to pursue the AXE exchange development at Ellemtel.
1973
Name AXE adopted. World oil crisis begins. Turku orders analogue AXE exchange. New factory established in Kumla, Sweden. Group sales exceed SEK 5,000 million.
1974
AXE customer presentations begin. International crossbar exchange opened in London.
1975
Erance chooses AXE as second system.
1976
Sodertalje exchange trials start 100-year anniversary celebrations. 60 MHz coax cable transmission system for 10.800 channels introduced.
1977
On March 1, the Sodertalje AXE exchange is cut over. Turku analogue exchange delivered. AXE system choice in Australia and the Saudi Arabia AXE contract is being announced. AXE orders received from Finland, Kuwait, Sweden, Yugoslavia and Denmark. Successful field trial of NMT. Tenders for supply of NMT systems invited. SRA acquires SONAB base-station and terminal manufacturing divisions. Dr. Marcus Wallenberg resigns as Chairman of the Board and is succeeded by Bjorn Lundvall. Bjorn Svedberg becomes new President and CEO.
1978
First digital AXE exchange installed in Turku. AOM centralized network management system and ASB electronic PBX introduced.
1979
Mrs. Thatcher elected Prime Minister in the UK. Electronic systems production exceeds electromechanical. First global advertising agency appointed.
1980
Ericsson buys Datasaab. Anaconda-Ericsson joint venture established in the US.
