Authors in this issue
Eric Peterson, the editor of Ericsson Review.

Göran A.P. Eriksson has worked for Ericsson since 1991. Over the years he has served in several mobile system product areas, but always with an emphasis on the core network; for example, on the GSM MSC and the HLR. He is currently employed at Ericsson Research where he works with issues relating to IP-based multimedia in cellular systems. Göran holds an M.S. in physics from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.

Jan Forslöw joined Ericsson in 1989 after completing an M.S.E.E. at the Linköping Institute of Technology. In his present assignment at Ericsson he serves as the Design Manager of the IP Network Management Department in Menlo Park, California, where he is actively involved in the design of the Network Resource Manager for the AXI 520, AXI 540 and AXC711 router platforms.

Ian Jarrett joined Ericsson in 1995 as a Systems Engineer specializing in IP management applications. Before this, Ian worked in the UK for Micromuse, a network management specialist, and Sun Microsystems, a vendor of UNIX workstations. Today, Ian works works with the Internet Network Monitor and Service Level Manager products at Ericsson’s IP Management Design Center in Menlo Park, California. Ian holds a B.S. in information systems design from Kingston University and is an associate member of the British Computer Society.

Latif Ladid has worked in various managerial and marketing positions at Nixdorf Computers in Germany, and Hewlett-Packard in the Middle East, as International Sales Manager at ComputerLand Europe in Luxembourg, and as Managing Director of ComputerLand Switzerland. From 1992 to 1998, he was with the Canadian Internet and internetworking specialist, DEVELCON, where he served as Vice President of Sales and Business Development. In 1998, Latif joined Telebit Communications A/S as Vice President, Sales EMEA (In June 1999, Ericsson acquired a major share in Telebit, creating Ericsson Telebit A/S). With support from the IETF IPv6 Working Group and the IPv6 Deployment Initiative, Latif founded the IPv6 Forum in May 1999. He has also served, from 1996 to 1998, as chairman of Global-ISDN. He holds an ESCAE (France), and did post-graduate work in business and administration in the UK.

Padraig Moran manages a policy networking solutions group in the Datacom Networks and IP Services division of Ericsson’s Network Operators business segment. His design team is developing an IP-based customer-provisioning solution for the IP management product portfolio. During the past four years, he has led a number of projects to develop IP-related products, including the AXI 510 edge router. He holds an M.S. from Dublin City University, Ireland.

Birgitta Olin joined the Traffic Theory Group at the Systems Management Department of Ericsson Telecom in 1993. Since 1998, she has worked with radio-network algorithms at Ericsson Research. She holds an M.S. in engineering physics and a Ph.D. in optimization theory, both from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

Staffan Pehrson is the Director of Ericsson’s WAP Program, a virtual unit that coordinates Ericsson’s WAP efforts, including WAP standardization, WAP gateways, WAP and WTA application servers, the WAP development kit (WapIDE), the WAP Developer’s Zone, and the WAP browser. He is also one of the founders of the open service architecture and the virtual home environment. Staffan holds M.S. degrees in systems engineering from Case Western Reserve University and in engineering physics from Uppsala University. He also recently completed an MBA.

Krister Svanbro has worked for Ericsson Research since joining Ericsson Erisoft AB in 1997. Initially, he was assigned to work with radio network solutions, such as GPRS and AMR, for “generation 2.5” systems. He then turned his attention to solutions for enabling efficient voice-over-IP-over-wireless third-generation systems, such as WCDMA and EDGE. Krister also served as a liaison between the 3GPP and IETF standardization bodies. Today, Krister leads a team whose task is to develop algorithms that enable efficient realizations of real-time IP services in IP-based third-generation cellular systems. He holds an M.S. in computer science from Luleå University of Technology.

Balázs Szviatovszki is currently working toward his Ph.D. at the Technical University of Budapest. He is also a research fellow at the Ericsson Traffic Analysis and Network Performance Laboratory in Budapest, Hungary, where his main interests are traffic engineering and performance optimization in ATM and IP networks. He is currently contributing to the MPLS optimization part of a project to develop an IP performance management tool.

Dalibor Turina joined Ericsson Radio Systems AB in 1993 as a member of the technical staff at the R&D Department. He has since been actively involved in the design and standardization of the GPRS radio interface. In 1997, he became manager of the Air Interface Architecture unit at the Access Networks Department of Ericsson Research. The group had an active role in the standardization of radio interfaces for WCDMA, EDGE and wireless LAN technologies. In 2000, he joined the Systems and Technologies Department at TDMA Systems, to work with future standard releases of EDGE. He holds an M.S. in telecommunications from the Faculty for Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at Zagreb University.

Einar Wennmyr joined Ericsson in 1981, working with the APS3 support system for AXE. In 1987, he was the recipient of a Wallenberg grant, which he used to pursue an M.S. in computer science from the University of Southern California. After completing his degree, he worked as manager of the modelling environment in AXE-N; as system manager of the development environment in AXE; and as system manager of Open System Platforms. Today, Einar serves as a member of the Strategic Product and System Management Team at UAB.
