Two of the hottest issues in mobile communications today are the growth of the mobile Internet and the evolution of new portals. Both are inter-dependent. Mobile Internet growth requires new portals. The creation, deployment and continued enhancement of new portals require a world-class portal infrastructure, combined with attractive and creative applications. And there must be a well-defined methodology for delivering the portal and the applications in order to capture a viable share of the market. Ericsson is working across several industry sectors to develop mobile Internet services and applications for mobile operators around the world. The authors describe the WISE Portal 2.0 solution, which is a cornerstone of this work.
