Tomas Hedberg currently works in the Radio Network Algorithms group within the UTRAN product design unit. He joined Ericsson in 1989 to work with TDMA/136 base station development and later became responsible for system work within radio networks for the TDMA/136 and PDC standards. In 1998 he transferred to GSM BSS and worked on standardization. He holds an M.S. in electric engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.

Jan Insulander is a senior expert in network and traffic management at Ericsson’s Multiservice Networks and Data Backbone business unit. During his 20+ years with Ericsson, he has held several positions in the fields of network management and management systems. He holds an M.S. in applied physics and electrical engineering from the Linköping Institute of Technology.

Andreas Jönsson joined Ericsson in 1999 to work with data synchronization and SyncML standardization. He was also responsible for the project that resulted in the world’s first SyncML-certified phones. Andreas is currently the technical manager for SyncML applications, which in addition to data synchronization, have evolved to include device management. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Lund Institute of Technology.

Johan Langer is senior product marketing manager at Ericsson CDMA Systems in San Diego, where he markets Ericsson’s CDMA2000 solution. His career at Ericsson began in 1991, at Ellemtel, where he worked with the design of MD110 software. Johan holds an M.S. degree from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine, U.S.A.

Gwenn Larsson joined Ericsson in 1999 as part of the Qualcomm acquisition and served as the director of technical and strategic marketing in the CDMA systems business unit. Prior to joining Ericsson, Gwenn worked for three-and-a-half years in various technical and product marketing roles at Qualcomm. She began her career in wireless systems in 1989, working for Motorola as a systems engineer. She holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Michigan Technology University.

Frank Müller joined Ericsson in 1995 and has been responsible for the standardization of EDGE in ETSI. Since 2000 he has worked at GSM Systems Management where he is line manager for the GERAN standardization group. In addition, he is Ericsson’s standards coordinator for GERAN and work item rapporteur for the UMTS alignment in 3GPP. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany.

Lars Novak joined Ericsson in 1990 after completing an M.S. in computer science and engineering at the Lund Institute of Technology. He began working with mobile phones in 1996 during his work on the standardization of SMS. He was later responsible for the Future Mobile Application group, which invented MMS, EMS, SyncML, and Email client. Lars is currently the development manager for multimedia and messaging applications. He is also deeply involved in work with his brainchild, the Wireless Village.

Stefan Parkvall joined Ericsson Research in 1999. He works with CDMA radio access research for CDMA2000 and WCDMA, and is currently involved in the research and standardization of high-speed packet data access (HSDPA) for WCDMA. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. From 1996–2001 he has served as an assistant professor in communication theory at the Royal Institute of Technology. During 1997–1998, he was also a visiting researcher at the University of California, San Diego.

Jan Rådemar works as a strategic solution manager for network management at the radio system component of Ericsson’s Mobile Systems WCDMA and GSM business unit. He has over ten years’ experience of telecommunication management, including transmission, datacom, fixed and wireless systems. Most recently, his work has been focused on network operation of third-generation networks. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Lund Institute of Technology, Sweden.

Joakim Sorelius joined Ericsson Research in 1999 to work with the development of algorithms and simulation tools for adaptive antennas in WCDMA systems. Since 2000 he has been working at GSM Systems Management of GERAN where he is project leader for the Ericsson GSM/EDGE radio network standardization project. He holds an M.S. in engineering physics and a Ph.D. in signal processing, both from Uppsala University, Sweden.

Magnus Svensson joined Ericsson after the completion of his university studies, in 1997, and began working with mobile phones. Since 1997, he has also worked with 3GPP standardization, and has been involved in the development of the EMS & MMS standards from the very start. Magnus currently heads up the technical development of the MMS application in mobile phones.

Dalibor Turina joined Ericsson Radio systems AB in 1993 as a member of the technical staff at the Access Networks research department. He has since been actively involved in the design and standardization of the GPRS radio interface. In 1997, he became manager of the Air Interface Architecture unit at the Access Networks department of Ericsson Research. The group contributed to the standardization of WCDMA, EDGE and wireless LAN technologies. In 2000, he became head of the GSM/TDMA/EDGE standardization strategy, but also works with GSM/EDGE system issues. He holds an M.S. in telecommunications from the Faculty for Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at Zagreb University.

Ratko Vukovic joined Ericsson Australia in 1989, where he worked on network management systems design. He later served as network management solutions specialist in China and Germany. Today, he works as chief architect at the Telecom Management & Professional Services component of Ericsson’s Global Services business unit in Sweden. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Zagreb, Croatia.
