Göran Ahlforn joined Ericsson in 1971 and has held numerous positions within the areas of systems development, product management and product marketing. He was involved in the early development of AXE, and was responsible for AXE systems management between 1991 and 1995. He has also served as director of R&D for Broadband Systems as well as Enterprise Systems. He is currently director of platform evolution at Ericsson’s Core Network Development core unit. He holds an M.S. in electronics from the Lund Institute of Technology.

Per O. Andersson has been engaged in optical research for 20 years in areas ranging from WDM transmission, optical signal quality, optical components, and optical access systems. He has also represented Ericsson in ITU and ETSI, and served as head of the Optical Network Research Laboratory. He is presently director of business development in Ericsson’s Transport and Transmission business unit.

Peter Arnby works for Mobile Internet Applications in Kista, Sweden. In March 2000, he became the project manager of EriWAP, the project responsible for standardization in the WAP Forum and W3C. He also currently serves as a member of the specification committee in the WAP Forum and the document secretary of the organization. Peter has also held assignments in other standards bodies, including 3GPP and Parlay.

Bo Berglund is an expert in MCPA technology at Ericsson Radio Access. Since joining Ericsson, in 1996, he has been involved in the development of MCPAs for PDC, TDMA and WCDMA systems. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from Chalmers Institute of Technology, Göteborg.

Erik Ekudden is an expert in the field of audio/visual communication systems at Ericsson Research. Since joining Ericsson, in 1993, he has worked with source coding research and standardization for GSM, PDC, TDMA and WCDMA systems. He is currently involved in the research and development of new mobile multimedia services. Erik holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.

Susanna Friis-Hansen serves as strategic product manager for WAP and secure transactions at Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB. She is also Sony Ericsson’s representative on the MeT board of directors. Susanna holds a masters degree in engineering and business management from the Linköping Institute of Technology, Sweden.

Ingvar Fröroth is system manager of Ericsson Telecom’s Ethernet Access product development unit. He joined Ericsson in 2001, after having spent five years researching new access networks and broadband communication services for the residential sector. Ingvar holds an M.S. in electrical engineering and a licentiate of technology degree in Teleinformatics.

Johan Hjelm is project manager for applications research in the Ericsson Research Japan IMT-2000 group at Yokosuka Research Park outside Tokyo, Japan. During the past two years, he has been working with convergence issues between the WAP Forum and the W3C. Johan also chairs the W3C CC/PP working group. In 2001, he was appointed senior specialist, Internet information services and protocol design. He is the author of two books, Designing Wireless Information Services and Creating the Semantic Web with RDF, published by John Wiley and Sons.

Uwe Horn works at Ericsson Research as a technical advisor and research coordinator for streaming-related research, standardization, and product-development projects. In 1998, he joined Ericsson Eurolab, Aachen, Germany, and in 2001, he was appointed senior specialist, mobile streaming. Uwe holds a diploma in computer science from the University of Bonn, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Mats Melander is employed as technical manager at Ericsson Mobile Platforms in Lund, Sweden. He joined Ericsson, in 1997, to work as a member of the data communication team, developing software solutions for mobile terminals. In 1999, he became technical manager of multimedia protocol implementations. He has also been active in the standardization of multimedia services. Mats holds an M.S. in computer science from Uppsala University, Sweden.

Stefan Nilsson-Gistvik works at the fiber access department of Ericsson Network Technology. He joined Ericsson, in 1984, as an instructor of data communication, switching in 1987 to fiber optics. He created and developed Ericsson’s fiber-optics training program for customers and is the author of Fiber optic theory for communications networks. In 1999, he served as an advisor on fiber and fiber-optic cables to the Swedish ITC-Commission.

Thorsten Nygren joined Ericsson in 1982 as a radio design engineer for defense communications. He currently works with linearized RF power amplifiers for radio base stations. He holds an M.S. in electronic engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.

Jan Olin joined Ericsson in 1996 and has held various positions ranging from operation development to product portfolio management. In 1999, he initiated Ericsson Radio Systems’ business development activities for on-demand multimedia for wireless systems. Today, he is strategic product manager of Ericsson’s on-demand multimedia distribution solution—Interactive Media. He holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and an MBA from the University of Stockholm.

Karl-Gösta Sahlman, who joined Ericsson in 1993, is an expert in radio implementations. The main focus of his work at Ericsson is on radio receivers, radio transmitters and RF power amplifiers (analog and digital technologies). He holds an MSEE degree from the Chalmers Institute of Technology, Göteborg.

Peter Stark joined Ericsson in March 2000 and currently works for the Ericsson Mobile Platforms business unit in Lund, Sweden. Since 1997, he has been a participant in the WAP Forum—two years in the protocols group, and two years in the applications groups. Similarly, since 1999 he has served in the W3C HTML group, and since 2000, in the W3C XForms groups.

Bengt Stavenow joined Ericsson Radio Systems in 1983 after completing post- graduate studies in telecommunications systems at the Lund Institute of Technology. In 1994, after holding various system management assignments, he was put in charge of system management and user interface design at Ericsson Mobile Communications. Bengt is currently responsible for software application development of trusted open execution environments for feature phones.

Erik Örnulf is currently vice president of Systems Technology Management at Corporate Technology, Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson, a position he has held since 1998. From 1992 to 1998 he was vice president of research at Ericsson Radio Systems. Before this, he was responsible for the systems architecture group for cellular systems. Mr. Örnulf began his career at Ericsson in 1969. He holds an M.S. in engineering from the Lund Institute of Technology.
