Eva Englund joined Ericsson Research in 2000. She works with WCDMA radio resource management and is a member of the Wireless Access Networks group at Ericsson Research. Eva previously held a position at the Defense Research Establishment, where she was responsible for research activities in the area of tactical radio networks. She holds an M.S. in electrical engineering and a Ph.D. in data transmission from Linköping University, Sweden.
Tomas Hedberg joined Ericsson in 1989 to work with TDMA base station development. He later moved to GSM BSS, where he worked mainly on standardization. In 2000, he transferred to UTRAN system design, where the focus of his work was on radio network algorithms. At present, he is engaged in the planning of UTRAN functions and GERAN standardization. He holds an M.S. in electric engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.
Kenth Höglund joined Ericsson in 1998 to work as a development project manager at Ericsson Mobile Communications. In 2000 he joined Ericsson Radio Access to work as product manager for filters and co-siting solutions. Since 2002 he has worked as product manager for RBS Site Solutions.
Peter Malm, who joined Ericsson in 1999, currently works as senior research engineer at the Ericsson Research branch at Ericsson Mobile Platforms in Lund, Sweden. His specialty is WCDMA radio access. He is also the EMP representative in 3GPP RAN WG1. Peter holds an M.S. in electrical engineering and a licentiate in engineering, both from Lund University.
Mats Nilsson is responsible for Ericsson’s strategies for future standards at Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson, Corporate Technology. He joined Ericsson in 1987 to work as system manager and project manager. From 1990 to 1992 he served as the technical manager of mobile systems at Nippon Ericsson KK. Between 1992 and 1998 he was responsible for Ericsson’s technical strategies for future systems within the Mobile Systems business area. He holds a B.S. from the University of Uppsala and a Lic.Ph. in theoretical physics from Stockholm University.
Ulf Olsson joined Ericsson in 1996, working mainly with architecture issues concerning packet-based systems, such as Packwajeerminals. At present, he shares his time between the BSYS Technology Strategy group and the GSM/GPRS/EDGE System Business Area. He holds an M.S. in engineering physics from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.
Stefan Parkvall joined Ericsson Research in 1999 to work with research and the evolution of cellular systems. He is also currently involved in the standardization of HSDPA and future uplink enhancements in 3GPP. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology. Stefan has served as an assistant professor in communication theory at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden 1996–2001, and as a visiting researcher at the University of California, San Diego, USA, 1997–1998.
Janne Peisa joined Ericsson Research in 1998 to work with WCDMA. He is currently the manager of the Advanced Radio Access Research section at Ericsson Finland. He holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Helsinki, Finland.
Magnus Persson joined Ericsson Research in 1994. From 1997 to 1998 he was active in WCDMA standardization. In 1998, he was appointed senior specialist in radio resource management, and at present he works with radio access network evolution. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
Tomas Persson is a senior research engineer in the EMF Health and Safety unit at Ericsson Research. He joined Ericsson in 1997, and has extensive experience of research relating to electromagnetic fields and health. He works mainly with sponsoring and the evaluation of research relating to the health and safety of wireless technologies, in cooperation with various international organizations. He holds an M.S. in engineering physics from Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg.
Björn Ternby joined Ericsson in 1993 to work with GSM base station development. Since 1995 he has had various positions in product management for GSM and technical sales support for WCDMA. Since 2002 he has served as a product manager for RBS site solutions. Björn holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Lund Institute of Technology, Sweden.
Christer Törnevik is director for the EMH Health and Safety research area at Ericsson Research. He joined Ericsson in 1991, and has more than ten years’ experience of research related to RF exposure from wireless communications. He holds a Lic. Tech. in physics from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. He represents Ericsson in several research and standardization organizations and is currently the chairman of the Mobile Manufacturers Forum, which is an international association of radio equipment manufacturers that jointly funds research and develops information on mobile communications and health.
