Eric Peterson, the editor of Ericsson Review.
Hans Beijner joined Ericsson in 1984 to work with radio base station design. He later served as senior specialist in radio circuit design of antenna-near products. He then moved to technical sales support to assist in the marketing and sales of repeater and in-building coverage systems. In 1996, he moved to Japan to serve as product manager and solution manager for various RAN products and in-building coverage solutions for 2G and 3G systems. He is currently senior product marketing and sales support manager for WCDMA radio capacity and coverage at WCDMA Product Management, Sales Support and Marketing.
Stephen Carson is a product marketing manager within the GSM product management group at Ericsson’s Business Unit Access, where he specializes in financial modeling and business cases. At present, he is involved in calculating the total cost of ownership of the GSM radio access network in various coverage and capacity initiatives. He also participates in customer workshops. Stephen joined Ericsson in 1998 as a business manager for Western Europe, and has held a variety of positions within marketing and strategy. He holds a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
Fredrik Dahlgren is deputy manager of the System Management organization at Ericsson Mobile Platforms. He holds an M.S. in computer science and engineering (1990) and a Ph.D. in computer systems architecture (1994), both from Lund University. He was a visiting professor at M.I.T. in 1995, and served on the Computer Engineering faculty at Chalmers University of Technology until 1999 when he joined Ericsson. From 2001 to 2003, he served as head of the Research Department at Ericsson Mobile Platforms in Lund.
Dirk Eschenbrücher studied electrical engineering and branch communications engineering at FH Aachen, Germany. In 1998, he completed a diploma thesis based on collaboration between FH Aachen and EED Ericsson Research in the area of internet over satellite. That same year he joined Ericsson EED as GPRS system test engineer. In 2000, he worked as GSN system security tester. In 2001, he began working with Mobile-PBN security verification, and in 2002 he moved to Mobile-PBN security design. Since 2002, he has had various parallel security-related assignments.
Ros-Marie Furtenback joined Ericsson in December 1989, and has worked with design and system management in various development projects both for fixed and mobile systems. At present, she is a system manager at Ericsson’s System Realization unit at Business Unit Systems. One of her recent assignments was WCDMA-GSM interworking. Ros-Marie holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg.
Harald Gustafsson joined Ericsson in 1996 to work with speech enhancement for mobile phones. In 2002, he moved to Ericsson Research at Ericsson Mobile Platforms, Lund. His research interests are audio processing and multimedia system design. He is a member of the JSR-234 Java Expert Group. Harald holds an M.S.E.E. from Lund University (1995) and a Ph.D. from Blekinge Institute of Technology, Ronneby, Sweden (2002).
Torsten Hunte joined Ericsson in 1997 to work with research and development at Ericsson’s Mobile Systems division. He later transferred to Ericsson product management and became director of the EDGE Program. In this role, he was responsible for EDGE on a global basis. At present, Torsten is director of Sales and Operator Strategies for GSM, GPRS, EDGE and WCDMA at Ericsson’s Business Unit Access.
Bodil Josefsson is program manager for Expander, which takes a cost-effective approach to new users outside current coverage areas. She joined Ericsson in 1991 to work with product management for transmission products. In 1993, she moved to the mobile side of Ericsson, where she has held various marketing and product management positions. Before being assigned to Expander, she was responsible for the seamless network program, which deals with 2G and 3G co-existence, and Ericsson’s Evolution story, which describes the future of telecommunication. Bodil holds an M.S. from the Linköping Institute of Technology.
Anette Lundvall is product marketing manager for the core network parts of the Expander offering. She joined Ericsson in 1985 to help market AXE. In 1993 she moved to the mobile side of Ericsson where she has held various positions in marketing and business support. Before being assigned to work with Expander, Anette oversaw several market launches of GSM and WCDMA system releases.
Michael Martinsson joined Ericsson in 1997 to work with technical sales and marketing of MINI-LINK in mobile and broadband applications. He currently works within the marketing and business development team for transmission and transport solutions. His area of specialization is mobile transmission (3G as well as 2G). From 2002 to 2004 he was responsible for the market introduction of and business growth program for Ericsson’s new-generation MINI-LINK (MINI-LINK TN). Michael holds an M.S. in electronic engineering and a degree in marketing.
Niclas Melin joined Ericsson in 1995 to work with mediation and has since held a number of positions relating to charging. At present, as marketing director of Ericsson’s charging solutions, he is responsible for customer training, product management, sales, and marketing. Niclas has an M.S. in computer science and engineering from Lund University, Sweden.
Johan Mellberg holds an M.S. in industrial engineering and management from the Linköping Institute of Technology. He joined Ericsson in 1997 as a system manager working with GPRS development. His work entailed test coordination, standardization, technical sales support, and requirement specifications. In 1999, he began working with the security of packet-switching products. The scope of his responsibilities rapidly expanded to include product management and system management. At present, Johan is responsible for system security aspects within Ericsson’s System Realization organization and is business solution manager of Ericsson’s security product portfolio: Managed Network Security Solutions.
Simo Niklander joined Ericsson as a designer in 1986. From 1989 to 1992 he served as line manager at the customer support center organization for fixed networks. In 1993 he moved to the mobile side, serving as quality coordinator and project manager for NMT and GSM delivery projects. He later served as line and account manager for various R&D projects including ISUP design, fast market design and intelligent networks. He was also responsible for developing the test bed for new concepts for VoIP over wireless connections. In 2001 he was put in charge of IPsec design, and in 2002, he became systems expert for security technologies and methodologies at Ericsson’s Network Security competence center. Simo holds an M.S. in engineering.
Tord Nilsson joined Ericsson Components in 1988 after completing an M.S. in electrical engineering at Lund Univeristy. He has since held several positions at Ericsson. Between 1998 and 2000, for example, while working for Ericsson Radio Systems in Stockholm, he participated in the Ericsson-IMEC Industrial Affiliation Program at IMEC in Leuven, Belgium, investigating efficient implementation of MPEG-4 video encoding/decoding. At present, he holds an Expert position at the department of digital baseband technology at Ericsson Mobile Platforms in Lund, Sweden.
Mats Näslund holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He joined Ericsson in 1999 and became part of the then newly formed Communication Security Lab at Ericsson Research. His research interests cover most aspects of mobile and wireless network security. He is a senior specialist in cryptography.
Patrik Palm joined Ericsson in 1995 after completing computer science studies at Åbo Akademi University, Finland. He has held several positions in product management, including product manager of charging and internet access (Stockholm) and as director of mobile applications product management (California). At present, Patrik serves as product manager of network security (Finland).
Jim Rasmusson is a senior specialist in multimedia terminal technology. Apart from a one-year departure during 1999 to 2000, he has worked with mobile phones at Ericsson since 1990. Initially, he worked with digital signal processing of speech and audio, but today his work embraces the full suite of multimedia processing in mobile phones. He has also held various specialist and managerial positions. Jim is currently assigned to Ericsson Research at Ericsson Mobile Platforms in Lund. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from Lund University.
Bengt Sahlin joined Ericsson in 2000 to work at the IPsec Competence Center. Today, he is part of Ericsson’s Network Security organization where he services as team leader of the Security Reference Team in the Total Standardization Project at Business Unit Systems. He is also Ericsson’s co-coordinator of security in 3GPP (SA3 working group). He holds an M.S. in computer science from Helsinki University of Technology.
Joerg Sieber joined Qualcomm in 1997 to serve as a marketing analyst in charge of industry and revenue forecasting. Following Ericsson’s acquisition of Qualcomm’s infrastructure division in 1999, he focused his efforts on strategic marketing of CDMA systems, playing a key role in developing a market strategy and CDMA opportunity analysis. In May 2000, Joerg transitioned to business intelligence to serve as strategic marketing manager with a focus on the competitive analysis of CDMA products and on developing competitive positioning documents for Ericsson’s CDMA products. He was also put in charge of Ericsson’s CDMA market analysis efforts. In the Spring of 2004, Joerg joined the product marketing group where he heads up all marketing efforts related to the CDMA2000 radio access network. He holds a B.A. in business administration and an M.A. business administration and marketing from the University of San Diego.
Dalibor Turina joined Ericsson Radio systems AB in 1993 as a member of the technical staff at the Access Networks research department. Since then he has been actively involved in the design and standardization of the GPRS radio interface. In 1997, he became manager of the Air Interface Architecture unit at the Ericsson Research Access Networks department. Between 2000 and 2003, he worked at development and business unit levels with strategic system management issues regarding RAN architecture. He is currently a member of the R&D Systems Management staff function. Dalibor holds an M.S. in telecommunications from the Faculty for Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at Zagreb University.
Ulrik Wahlberg joined Ericsson in 2001 to work with mobility management and shared networks for GSM/GPRS and WCDMA. In 2003 he was appointed team leader of shared and seamless network activities. At present, he is product manager of Ericsson’s Shared and Seamless Network. Ulrik holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.
