Martin Bakhuizen joined Ericsson in 1989 to work with GSM system development. Among other things, he worked with the first short message service (SMS) implementation, the first GSM data services, and the standardization of GSM in the US (PCS1900). In 1996, he was appointed manager of a department in charge of BSS system design for GPRS and EDGE. After three years as technical sales manager at Ericsson Inc. in the US, he joined RAN Systems and Technology, where he currently works with WCDMA evolution and standardization including MBMS. Martin holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
Jonas Bjurel, who joined Ericsson in 1987, currently heads the IS systems management team. Jonas was previously head of the system management and engineering team at Ericsson-Juniper Mobile IP, the join venture between Ericsson and Juniper Networks.
Staffan Blau, who joined Ericsson in 1978, is a senior systems architect and end-to-end telecommunication solutions expert. At present, he works in the strategic system management team at the IP Multimedia Networks product development unit. Staffan holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.
Andrei Dulski, who joined Ericsson in 2001, currently serves as marketing manager at Business Unit Access where he is responsible for Ericsson’s mobile broadband offering. After having completed his master’s thesis at Ericsson he has held various marketing positions within the fixed broadband, next-generation networks, and IP business areas. He holds an M.S. in electronic engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.
Uwe Horn, joined Ericsson in 1998. He is a senior specialist within Ericsson Corporate Research in the area of multimedia technologies. At the Ericsson Eurolab R&D Center in Aachen, Germany, he leads a team working on media delivery services in mobile networks. The current focus of this work is on mobile broadcast/multicast services. Uwe received a diploma in computer science from University Bonn and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
Michael Kornby has been with Ericsson since 1984, where he has worked with technology for mobile phones and actively participated in the evolution from 4 kilogram NMT car phones to 100 gram dual-mode WCDMA handsets. During these years Michael has held numerous R&D positions with Ericsson in Lund, Sweden and with Ericsson in RTP, NC, USA. He is currently responsible for Open Application Environments at EMP in Lund. Michael holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Lund Institute of Technology, Sweden.
Magnus Lundevall joined Ericsson Research in 1998 to research radio network algorithms for WCDMA. He has vast experience of radio network simulations, and in 2004, he was appointed senior specialist in the area of radio network performance. He holds an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.
Ulf Olsson joined Ericsson in 1996, working mainly with architecture issues concerning packet-based systems such as packet PDC, GPRS, UMTS packet and the CDMA2000 packet core network. At present, as a member of the R&D Systems Management group, his professional focus is on service layer and IMS issues. He holds an M.S. in engineering physics from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm.
Stefan Parkvall joined Ericsson Research in 1999 and is currently a senior specialist in adaptive radio access, working with research on, and the standardization of, future cellular technologies. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. Before joining Ericsson he was an assistant professor in communication theory at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm (1996-2001) and a visiting researcher at the University of California, San Diego (1997-1998).
Mikael Persson was appointed manager, Strategy and Business Development WCDMA RAN in 2004. Prior to this he was head of Strategy and Business Development for Ericsson Wireline. With a background in both fixed and mobile systems, he possesses a very good understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with fixed and radio based systems. He has also worked within the innovative field of R&D and as head of global sales for Ericsson’s IP-DSLAM. Mikael has an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and a B.A. in Business Administration from the Stockholm University School of Business.
Johan Sköld joined Ericsson Research in 1989, where he is currently an expert in digital radio access in cellular systems. He has been involved in the research and evolution of 2G and 3G systems, with emphasis on radio access and its impact on system performance. He was involved in the standardization of GSM, EDGE, CDMA2000 and UMTS/IMT-2000. He has an M.S. in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm and the University of Washington, Seattle.
Magnus Sundelin joined Ericsson Research in 1994 to work in research and to further the evolution of optical wavelength division multiplexing systems. In 1997 he joined the access technology research group where he has been involved in research on WCDMA and advanced antennas. At present, he works with the HSDPA and enhanced uplink test beds. Magnus holds a Licentiate degree in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden.
Anja Thyssen joined Ericsson Denmark in 2001 as Marketing Communications Consultant, producing sales and marketing materials on various products within the MSA product development unit. She holds an M.A. in English from the University of Aarhus, Denmark.
