Johan Bergman received an MSc in engineering physics from the Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden). He joined Ericsson in 1996 to work with radio design for GSM and PDC base stations. During 1998-2005, he helped design the baseband algorithm for Ericsson's experimental and commercial WCDMA/HSPA systems. Since 2005, he has worked with WCDMA/HSPA L1 standardization and with WCDMA/HSPA RAN system design.
Michael Björn is Senior Expert in consumer behavior at Ericsson ConsumerLab. He received a PhD in 1997 in database modeling at the Institute for Social Engineering, University of Tsukuba (Japan). Since then, he has held various positions at Ericsson, both at Ericsson ConsumerLab in Sweden and at Ericsson Japan.
Didier Chincholle is Senior Specialist in interaction design for Mobile Services at Ericsson Research. He holds a Master of Architecture from Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Strasbourg (France). Since 1998, he has worked at the Usability and Interaction Lab, focusing on concept and product design, user experience, and design methods.
Mårten Ericson graduated from the Luleå University of Technology (Sweden) with an MSc in computer science. In 1998, he joined Ericsson Research. His initial assignment emphasized radio network solutions for cellular systems, in particular WCDMA, radio resource management, and power-control issues. From 1999 to 2001, the focus of his research was on advanced antenna system solutions for WCDMA and HSDPA. And since 2004, he has worked with the performance of multimedia telephony services over cellular systems.
Dirk Gerstenberger holds a Dipl-Ing in electrical engineering from the University of Paderborn (Germany). In 1997, he joined Ericsson to work with system design of the experimental WCDMA system and the first commercial WCDMA radio base station products. Since 1999, he has been actively involved in the standardization of WCDMA/HSPA and LTE. Since February 2003, he has also served as chairman of 3GPP TSG RAN WG1. Dirk is a Senior Specialist in the area of WCDMA Radio Access Evolution.
Bo Göransson holds an MSc in electrical engineering and applied physics from Linköping University (Sweden) and a PhD from the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden). In 1998, he joined Ericsson Research, where he has been involved in the research and standardization of multi-antenna systems for WCDMA and its evolution. At present, Bo is a Senior Specialist in multi-antenna systems.
Peter Hjorth, who joined Ericsson in 1994, is currently Marketing Manager at Product Area Radio. During his 13 years with Ericsson, he has held a number of positions within product management and marketing, including line management and specific product responsibilities. As line manager, he headed up Business Development and Program Management as well as Strategic Marketing and Business Planning departments. In the product perspective, he has mainly worked with D-AMPS, WCDMA, Mobile Broadband and MBMS. Peter has been on several assignments abroad including an assignment as Local Product Manager at Ericsson Hong Kong. He holds an MSc in electrical engineering from the Lund Institute of Technology (Sweden).
Gerd Holm-Öste has a degree in mechanical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden) and a diploma in business (DIHM) from the IHM Business Academy (Sweden). She joined Ericsson in 1986, spending nine years with system testing, and systems and project management. In 1995, she became a mobile systems product manager, working with charging strategies, platform strategies, and network architecture evolution. From 2004 to present, her main emphasis has been on user service performance.
Juan-Antonio Ibanez joined Ericsson Eurolab Germany in 1999 as a system designer for GPRS support nodes. He actively contributed to 3GPP standardization of the GPRS and UMTS packet-switched architecture before taking on the role of technical coordinator within the Network Integration and Verification department. In 2006, Juan-Antonio moved to Ericsson AB in Stockholm, Sweden, where he serves as a Senior Specialist in mobile TV and broadcast system architecture at Business Unit Networks. He holds an MSc in communication systems from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Switzerland).
Morgan Lindqvist is a Senior Research Engineer at the Multimedia Technologies department at Ericsson Research, where the focus of his work is on media applications and protocols. He holds an MSc in computer science from Luleå University of Technology (Sweden).
Thorsten Lohmar holds a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Aachen (RWTH). In 1998, he joined Ericsson Research in Germany to work with various aspects of mobile communication systems, such as quality of service, hybrid networking, and to integrate WLAN into cellular environments. Since 2000, his primary focus has been on mobile multicast and broadcast services. Thorsten led the "Mobile Multicast Protocols" work package of the IST-OverDRiVE Project (2002-2004). And since 2003, he has headed up Ericsson's MBMS standardization team, actively contributing to MBMS standardization in 3GPP.
Nina Lövehagen joined Ericsson in 2000 to work with electromagnetic fields (EMF) and health at Ericsson Research. At present, she mainly works with the sustainability team, researching EMF safety and sustainability. Nina holds an MSc in electrical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm).
Jens Malmodin joined Ericsson in 1995 to work with environmental issues and life cycle assessments at RBS Basic Technology. Between 2003 and 2006 he also worked with product requirements and energy efficiency for WCDMA RBS System Design. He is currently a member of EMF Safety and Sustainability at Ericsson Research. Jens holds an MSc in material engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden).
Cristian Norlin is a Senior Researcher at the Usability & Interaction Lab at Ericsson Research, where the focus of his work is on researching and developing service concepts, usability and interaction design. Cristian holds an MA in interaction design from the Royal College of Art in London (UK).
Matz Norling has a degree in electrical engineering. In addition, he has studied mathematics at Stockholm University and quality management at the Chalmers Institute of Technology (Sweden). He joined Ericsson in 1974, spending 14 years field-testing avionics and space equipment. In 1988, he began working with Ericsson Mobile Systems as a system test manager, and in 1999, as a Senior Specialist in user service quality.
Magnus Olsson joined Ericsson in 1998 to develop standards that introduce internet features into mobile devices. For instance, he contributed to features such as HTML with telephony extensions over wireless enhanced TCP/IP protocol stacks. He also has a proven track record of contributing technology leadership into standards organizations through initiatives such as WAP, OMA, LIF, MeT, OMTP and the JCP. For the past five years he has also been involved in Java ME standards activities, participating in several JSRs and serving on the Java ME Executive Committee. He currently manages Ericsson's Java ME Standards activities and is Ericsson's primary contact with the JCP organization.
Ulf Olsson has a background in software architecture for distributed military command-and-control systems. He joined Ericsson in 1996 to work with architecture issues concerning packet-based systems such as packet PDC, GPRS, UMTS packet and the CDMA2000 packet core network. At present, as a member of the Systems Management group, Business Unit Multimedia, his professional focus is on IMS, enterprise, and developer-oriented issues. He holds an MSc in engineering physics from the Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden).
Janne Peisa joined Ericsson Research in 1998 to work with WCDMA. His main emphasis has been on evaluating and enhancing WCDMA performance for packet data. At present, he works at Ericsson Research in Finland as a technical coordinator and team leader for the 3GPP RAN2 working group. Janne holds an MSc and PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Helsinki (Finland). He has also published several papers, more than 50 patent applications, and served as editor of a book entitled IMS Multimedia Telephony over Cellular Systems.
Mats Stille joined Ericsson in 1985 to work as a function tester and system designer of TACS and AMPS analog mobile systems. In 1988 he moved to GSM system design and standardization. In 1991, he was appointed Senior Specialist of mobile services. At about the same time, he began working as system architect of PDC, the Japanese mobile system. In 1998, Mats was designated an Expert of mobile network architectures and began working with multimedia architectures, primarily as they relate to the WCDMA system.
Dalibor Turina joined Ericsson in 1993 to research and work with access networks. In particular, he had an active role in the design and standardization of the GPRS radio interface. In 1997, he became manager of the Ericsson Research Air Interface Architecture unit. Between 2000 and 2006, he worked with strategic system management issues regarding radio access network architecture both at business unit and corporate levels. At present, he serves as Director of Systems Management at Business Unit Multimedia, where his main focus is on mobile TV. Dalibor holds an MSc in telecommunications from the Faculty for Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, Zagreb University (Croatia).
Stefan Wager joined Ericsson in Finland in 1996, where he has worked with the research, standardization and product development of WCDMA. During 2000-2002 he worked on assignment at Ericsson Eurolab Germany, simulating protocols for product development. At present, his work supports concept development and standardization of HSPA Evolution. Stefan holds an MSc in electrical engineering from the Helsinki University of Technology (Finland).
Kent Westergren joined Ericsson in 1994 to serve as a product manager and the development of the embedded power solution used in Ericsson's GSM systems. He then moved to the GSM RBS project group to work with operations and customer-related quality enhancements. In 2002, he joined GSM RBS product management, where the focus of his work was on the power, energy and climate features of GSM RBS products. In 2007, Kent moved to the Site Solutions group to work with cross-functional RBS site solutions, again with emphasis on lean energy use and site solutions with tight RBS integration. Due to his interest in power and energy, Kent has been helping to drive the development of hardware and software solutions in these disciplines.
Niklas Widell holds a PhD in teletraffic theory (overload control and load balancing in data and telecom networks) from the Department of Communication Systems, Lund University (Sweden). He joined Ericsson in Lund in 2005 to work with standardization. Niklas has been a member of the MIDP3 Expert Group since 2005 and has contributed to several parts of the standard. He is also active in several other JCP Expert Groups in the areas of networking and telecommunication.
Aurélie Zanin joined Ericsson Research in 2005 to work with mobile TV prototyping. In 2006, she moved to the development unit in Shanghai to work on Ericsson's content-delivery system. Aurélie currently serves as system manager in Shanghai, coordinating several technical studies within the mobile TV area. She holds an MSc in engineering from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Physique de Strasbourg (France).
