Volunteers

The Ericsson Response Volunteer (ERV) program provides employees with opportunities to become involved in Ericsson Response efforts. This will be done in parallel with their normal work. When fully implemented there will be 150 to 200 ERVs around the world. This to ensure the availability of ERVs in spite of business commitments.

This is Ericsson's way to empower employees to make a difference in society and add another dimension to employees' jobs, making them feel more motivated.

The volunteers can be used in different ways; in partner relief operations or in implementation teams and in technical assessment.

In a relief operation the ERV can have different tasks, depending on the skills and the situation. The ERV implementation team will install, integrate and operate equipment at the disaster site. In all international missions the volunteers will work in partnership with IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) or different UN (United Nations) relief organizations at the disaster site.

Ericsson Response Volunteers will primarily focus on IT and telecom support to the disaster areas. The ERVs can also implement and operate temporary WLANS and cellular networks for relief operations.

In a technical assessment the ERV will do a survey on the present communication situation on the site. Ericsson Response and the operational partner will then propose improvements of the communication.
