Jan Herremo
Early morning on Friday May 23 the Ericsson Response Volunteer Jan Herremo took a flight from Sweden together with SRSA (Räddningsverket) aiming for Algeria. Jan's role is to coordinate Ericsson's support to the relief organizations. Jan will have contact with the local company in Algeria. Ericsson Response is now looking into how to reinforce the country mobile and fixed networks, and is trying to get in contact with the Algerian Government and operators.
The SRSA search rescue team consists of 75 people and 12 rescue dogs. The team is flying to Alger with a hired SAS MD81, while the equipment is sent with two Hercules planes.
Ericsson has informed the Algerian Ambassador in Sweden about the Ericsson Response Volunteer Jan Herremo already being on his way to Algeria to lead our activities there, and to support the relief organizations after the earthquake. The Ambassador, Ms Aiouaze, was very pleased and grateful and she would immediately draft a mail or fax to her government to let them know about our Ericsson Response work.
