Ericsson has introduced a new feature for its MD110 business communications system that enables mobile workers to use their mobile phones as an ordinary extension of their company's PBX. With this new feature, functions such as direct dialing, automatic call-back and secretarial monitoring are available to users on their mobile phones, just as if they were in the office.
Ericsson's MD110 Mobile Extension is available globally and is one of the building blocks of the Mobile Enterprise strategy and solution. It enables mobile workers to access a range of business-critical communications and information applications easily and securely from a variety of devices.
Mobility is key to success for enterprises of the future, and we are determined to make these productivity- and quality-enhancing features available to businesses of all sizes, says Lars E Svensson, President of Ericsson Enterprise. We know that mobile workers need to stay in touch with customers, partners and colleagues, and need to access and exchange the latest information fast anytime, anywhere.
MD110 Mobile Extension benefits businesses in three key areas: customer satisfaction, productivity and cost control.
Customers only have one phone number (extension) to dial. They will also have access to an assistant or secretary when the mobile user is busy on a call. Important calls can be put through by a secretary even when the user's mobile is busy or set to "in a meeting", thanks to intrusion and diversion by-pass functions.
Efficiency and productivity are improved through fewer wasted call attempts, as a result of the automatic callback function. Calls can be controlled through secretarial screening or advanced Computer Telephony-based call control.
Improved control over mobile communications costs is provided through PBX-type functions such as authorization codes, abbreviated numbers, call information logging, and service class restrictions. Least Cost Routing (LCR) may provide savings on long-distance and international calls. Furthermore, enterprises save on call charges as a result of fewer calls having to be returned, thanks to higher reachability of staff. Savings can also be achieved on extension administration and on increased assistant efficiency, reducing the time spent per call to cellular users.
