Ericsson meets Indian customers and media in Goa on March 4 - 6, 2005.
March 4-6, 2005
"INDIA can leapfrog into the future," says Jan Campbell, Managing Director, Ericsson India & Sri Lanka.
With its rapid growth in mobile penetration and the dramatic increase in data speeds possible with 3G mobile systems, India can not only reach hundreds of millions of people with basic voice communication within just a few years, but also reach those millions with high-quality broadcasting, video on demand, high-speed Internet access and video calls.
Ericsson can already today demonstrate speeds exceeding 10Mbps with its 3G WCDMA technology.
Ericsson CTO Håkan Eriksson says: "With the Government's forward-looking and progressive telecom policies focusing on wireless and broadband, I can see that our "Mobile Triple Play" technology can rapidly reach millions of people with services such as educational broadcasting, remote teaching and training, health care and e-governance."
This technology can also connect millions of people, small industries and entrepreneurs in remote areas to the national and international marketplaces.
Håkan Eriksson, who is in charge of Ericsson's R&D and technology, took part in a "Partners in Progress" meeting in Goa with Indian customers and media. He told the event that India had a great opportunity to take a technology shortcut with mobile technology and reiterated the strong commitment that Ericsson, through its leading position, had to India, today as well as in the future.
