Ericsson Mobile Platforms and NTT DoCoMo successfully complete WCDMA Interoperability Testing

Ericsson Mobile Platforms and NTT DoCoMo, Inc. have successfully finalized WCDMA Interoperability Testing (IOT). The tests were conducted using Ericsson Mobile Platforms’ global market leading WCDMA/GPRS platform U100. Tests were first performed in DoCoMo's laboratories followed by fully completed field tests in DoCoMo’s live FOMA network.
Based upon the successfully completed tests, Ericsson Mobile Platform's WCDMA/GPRS platform U100 5.0f or U100 5.0e plus patches has been fully tested for operation in NTT DoCoMo’s FOMA network.
Mr. Takanori Utano, Managing Director of Research and Development Division, NTT DoCoMo commented, "Since the technology from Ericsson Mobile Platforms is widely deployed in leading WCDMA mobile phones, the completion of this testing is very important for DoCoMo as it would enhance our support for users roaming into DoCoMo's network in Japan."

Ericsson Mobile Platforms has previously announced that an estimated 30% of all globally sold WCDMA handsets in 2004 used the U100 platform.
