Ericsson in EANTC interoperability showcase in Berlin

Ericsson’s Optical Packet Transport and Edge routing platforms successfully participate in EANTC multi-vendor interoperability tests.

Ericsson is successfully participating in two interoperability environments during the EANTC multi-vendor interoperability tests in Berlin. The focus is to showcase an end-to-end network delivering Carrier Ethernet services across multiple transport and aggregation technologies. The two technologies involved are T-MPLS/MPLS-TP, where Marconi OMS equipment is employed, and MPLS, where Redback SmartEdge 400 is employed.

The test integrates more than 100 systems and is presented at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress 2008 (22-26 September in Berlin).

Ericsson’s Marconi OMS Optical Packet Transport platform, thanks to its carrier-class functionalities, passed all the planned tests within the T-MPLS/MPLS-TP metro. During the planning phase of the interoperability event, the development of T-MPLS (ITU-T) requirements and standards have been taken over by a joint IETF - ITU-T working team and resulted in defining a transport profile for MPLS called MPLS-TP.  Marconi OMS equipment will continue to evolve to meet new requirements that may be generated by the MPLS-TP standardization process.

Also successfully passing the interoperability tests in its environment (MPLS metro network area) was the Redback SmartEdge 400. Ericsson’s booth during the Carrier Ethernet World Congress this week features such products.

The white paper with detailed multi-vendor interoperability test results will be distributed at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress and available on EANTC website starting from September 22nd.
