Mobile operators have been signing up for managed services for several years and now wireline operators are doing the same. As a managed services partner, Ericsson provides higher efficiency and economies of scale; the possibility to reduce the need to build non-core competence; and the chance to focus more of their efforts on revenue-generating activities, such as customer acquisition and retention.
Fredrik Strand, Vice President and General Manager Service Delivery and Operations, Business Unit Global Services, Ericsson, says: “We have vast experience from managing network on behalf of operators for over 15 years. With wirline operators showing more interest than ever we can to a larger extent apply that experience and those synergies to their operations.”
The establishment of a Global Service Delivery Centre (GSDC) in Poland marks another step in Ericsson’s service delivery strategy. The centre will serve Ericsson’s customers around the world.
Jari Luukkonen, Vice President and Head of Global Service Delivery Center Poland, Ericsson, says: “The employees in the centre are highly skilled and internationally certified, multi-lingual engineers from universities in Poland. Their focus is to support our customers, leveraging on our expertise. The increasingly complex technology that is becoming a natural part of more business areas is creating opportunities for us to leverage our synergies for the benefit of both Ericsson and our customers.”
The center established in Warsaw will also be the global platform for the implementation capabilities for the tools used in Ericsson’s, to date, nine network operations centers for managed services. Companies outside the operator segment also see managed services as an alternative and the capabilities related to those customers will also be centralized to this delivery centre.
This announcement follows the openings of GSDCs in Pakistan, Romania and Lebanon. It highlights the increased focus on high-growth regions and is another step in the journey for Ericsson service delivery organization that employs about 30,000 professionals worldwide as well as 15.000 sourced resources, all working with the same processes, methods and tools. About 8,000 of these employees work across 23 GSDCs, ensuring business readiness in serving Ericsson’s customers around the world.
