Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC) and Tandberg Television, part of the Ericsson Group, are set to launch a host of advanced solutions that will allow consumers to enjoy the on-demand television experience whenever and on whatever screen they want in the home.
September 11, 2009
The solutions, to be demonstrated and launched at the 2009 International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, offer consumers the latest in video-on-demand (VOD) technology, including the option to move their viewing experience seamlessly across various screens. The solutions build on existing infrastructure, bringing new revenue streams and capital expenditure savings for operators.
Andrew Rowe, Vice President of Software Product Management at Tandberg Television, says: “TV consumption is changing, and consumers want on-demand entertainment that they can have whenever and wherever they want. Enabling service providers to fulfill these consumer desires is the core of the Ericsson individual TV experience.”
The new products and demonstrations at IBC include:
The industry's first device-aware back-office system for multiplatform TV
VOD for digital terrestrial and satellite TV platforms
VOD without a set-top box
One-way VOD opens the door for on-demand services to all cable set-top boxes
See these solutions and more at the IBC 2009 Exhibition, September 11-15, Hall 1:D61, in the Amsterdam RAI Exhibition and Congress Center.
