Ericsson has been acknowledged today as the ‘Green Pioneer’ at the ‘2009 Korea-EU Industrial Cooperation Day’ event held by the EU Chamber of Commerce in Korea (EUCCK). By receiving this award, Ericsson’s initiatives for environment, green technology and cooperative efforts for growing 4G-based green eco-system in Korea was recognized.
Ericsson Korea President Bjorn Allden said, “Ericsson is honored to receive the ‘Green Pioneer’ award. We believe 4G and mobile broadband technology can initiate a new green telecom industry. Korean is well positioned to be the early market taking a lead in this development.”
EUCCK president Jean Marie Hurtiger said, “EU companies in Korea have begun to share environmental agendas with Korean partners. We hope more EU companies will follow suit the lead of Ericsson to cooperate with Korea as ‘Green Pioneer’ partners.”
In July 2009, Ericsson and Korean government agreed to co-operate for the growth of 4G-based green eco-system in Korea. Based on this meeting Ericsson initiated collaborations with leading Korean companies to develop the new green telecommunication economy.
Korean prime minister Chung, Un Chan, EU ambassadors, Korean government authorities and industry leaders attended the annual ‘2009 Korea-EU Industrial Cooperation Day’ event to celebrate the strengthening industrial cooperation between EU and Korea. ‘Green Pioneer’ award was newly added to the Korea-EU Cooperation Awards this year to meet the Korean government’s green growth policies.
