Optical and radio solution to enhance transmission in Brazil

  • Diveo prepares network for next generation of broadband services
  • Brazilian customers to get higher speed and improved services
  • Microwave solution increases capacity and reduces costs

December 21, 2009

Under the contract, Ericsson will deliver its leading DWDM solution – the MHL 3000 series – to upgrade the existing core network for Diveo – the leading supplier of local Telecom and IT solution for corporate customers in Latin America – in São Paulo.

Luiz Dutra, Telecom Executive Vice President, Diveo, says: "Diveo is pleased to continue its business relationship with Ericsson by adopting its DWDM technology. In a competitive market the selection of the right product is crucial for a rapidly growing company such as Diveo. We have selected these solutions that meet the requirements for our rapid growth and smooth business development and ensure a continued evolution of our network.''

Lourenço Coelho, Vice President, Ericsson Brazil, says: "We are proud to support Diveo in their implementation of these transmission solutions, which marks a milestone in our longtime strategic partnership. We are confident that our cutting-edge solutions and through our strong local presence and expertise, we can help Diveo to meet its future expansion and performance requirements."

With the expansion of its current transmission capacity, Diveo will be able to meet the fast-growing broadband bandwidth demand while ensuring superior bandwidth utilization and quality of services for customers in the region.

Besides that, Ericsson will deploy and integrate its latest microwave transmission solution, MINI-LINK TN, which will provide extra backhaul capacity in the existing transport network and makes it easy to add more capacity as needed. This will allow Diveo be able to introduce new bandwidth-intensive services at a lower cost, while expanding transport capacity and increasing network control and flexibility. A smooth migration from voice to data is ensured by the flexibility of the system as both circuit and packet traffic is handled efficiently.

The Ericsson ServiceOn platform supports management of Ericsson’s optical, microwave, broadband access and metro ethernet network elements as well as straight forward integration of other vendor equipment. Ericsson will also be responsible for the design, installation, support and systems integration services of all these solution into Diveo’s current network structure.

To meet the growing demand from consumers for bandwidth-hungry services, operators worldwide are planning for deployment of the DWDM solutions to expand their network capacity. Ericsson’s optical solution, built on the advanced MHL 3000 platform, is the most reliable and future proof solution in the market for transporting huge data traffic between network routers in core networks.
