December 29, 2009

The Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice Awards are held annually to recognize the technology innovations and contributions to the industry of the top telecom vendors operating in Asia Pacific. Nominations were made by 56 analysts and consultants throughout September and October. Telecom Asia’s editors consulted with a team of analysts to create a shortlist for each category, then opened voting to its online subscriber base of service providers across Asia in late October.

The 2009 Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice Awards winners were announced at a ceremony in Hong Kong on Friday, December 11. Sixteen equipment and software suppliers received 22 awards by executives from nine service providers including AT&T, BT, C&W, China Unicom, CSL, Hutchison Telecom, Orange Business Services, SmartTone Vodafone and Verizon Business.

Johan Adler, President of Ericsson Hong Kong and Macau, accepted Ericsson’s award for “Wireless Broadband Network Vendor of the Year” from Ricky Chong, Director of Content and Business Development for CSL, and the award for “Infrastructure Management Vendor of the Year” from Joseph Chow, BT head of sales for Hong Kong and Taiwan.

“Ericsson’s key to success is based on its unique approach to infrastructure management,” said Hok Siew Lee, VP and head of Services & Strategic Sales Program for Ericsson Greater China. “The company utilizes its extensive experience on both the business and technology sides of communications to ensure infrastructure is managed efficiently throughout its lifecycle. This helps operators drive down costs while providing quality services that generate revenue.”

“As carriers transition from legacy to IP-based networks, and converge their fixed and mobile networks, they are also looking for solutions that can seamlessly manage their infrastructure,” said Lee. “Ericsson is well positioned to help customers successfully build and manage their networks.”
