Palace Kämp Group is a privately owned corporation, which operates 15 restaurants and five hotels in Finland’s capital, Helsinki. The Group prides itself on offering high quality customer services to its guests, and its flagship Hotel Kämp was named among the world’s top 100 hotels last year.
Palace Kämp wanted to invest in an integrated communication solution to secure controlled growth, unified systems and processes for employees.
Mikael Bäckman, CIO, Berling Capital, which provides Palace Kämp Group with administration and management services, explains what the Group wanted to achieve: “We wanted to implement a communication solution that will take us into the future. We want to be able to undergo a safe and secure migration to IP and have a solution which will be highly flexible and increase the mobility of our workforce.”
Due to the round-the-clock nature of the hotel industry, the implementation of the system had to be seamless, ensuring no disruption to the running of the hotels.
Importantly, the system also needed to be flexible, enabling swift and smooth modifications when necessary.
The Group had already invested in Ericsson communication solutions and Berling Capital also had over six years experience of Ericsson’s Solidus eCare™.
Palace Kämp turned to Ericsson through its reseller, Somic, for a solution. Ericsson partner Esecom supported Somic and the customer, providing a variety of expertise, including delivery, integration, configuration, technical realization and end-user training.
Mr Bäckman explains why the Ericsson solution was chosen: “Our previous excellent experiences of Ericsson solutions, coupled with their open, flexible platform and clear migration path, made Ericsson a natural choice for this project. Their strong commitment to providing a total solution that met our business needs, and the migration offering to build on earlier investments, was very important to us.”
The Ericsson solution was developed around the MX-ONE Telephony Switch, including Mobile Extensinos. Ericsson’s clear and logical “stepwise to IP” approach utilized easy upgrades to provide a secure migration path. This was designed to be flexible to meet Palace Kämp’s business evolution scenarios, with changes or additions to the network available when the company required them. The use of the existing infrastructure ensured the Ericsson solution was highly cost-efficient. Ericsson’s partnership expertise played a key role in the implementation of the unique solution. Ericsson’s partner and reseller were able to assist in integrating the customized MX-ONE solution with the existing open application provider.
