"As Kuwait’s second largest mobile operator, Wataniya Telecom has more than 1 million subscribers, of which 85 percent are on prepaid accounts. Wataniya was the first Kuwaiti operator to launch data services in the country with EDGE functionality from Ericsson and turned again to one of its trusted partners to develop High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) in order to launch mobile broadband in Kuwait.
Ericsson’s ability to deliver and integrate the complete solution ensured a very fast time-to-market for the new broadband service. This allowed Wataniya to capitalize on the early market opportunity, moving the operator to the number one position in the market in a short period of time. The network already carries several terabytes of broadband traffic per day."
