Welcome to NomadicLab - Research Unit
Providing Ericsson with system concepts, technology and methodology

NomadicLab is Ericsson Finland's research unit belonging to Ericsson's global research organization. It provides Ericsson with system concepts, technology and methodology. World class innovation is achieved through cooperation within Ericsson and with partners, customers, universities and research institutes.

NomadicLab, which consists of around 50 people, is divided into the following four areas:

  • Multimedia Signalling
  • Networking Architecture
  • Networking Security
  • Wireless Access Networks

NomadicLab supports Ericsson product- and business units. The activities performed at NomadicLab include generating patents and innovations, producing scientific papers, and designing, prototyping, and standardizing concepts, architectures, protocols and algorithms.

Participation in the scientific community and in standardization bodies such as the IETF, 3GPP, ETSI TISPAN or OMA is a key part of the work at NomadicLab. Many of the researchers at NomadicLab also serve in various roles in these communities, for instance, as program committee members, specification editors, liason officers, or in management positions such as area directors or Internet Architecture Board (IAB) members at the IETF.

NomadicLab cooperates with universities and research institutes in and outside Finland. At NomadicLab, there usually are open positions for M.Sc. students to do their thesis or to work as trainees. If you are interested in joining NomadicLab as a student or as a researcher, please, contact us by e-mail to the address PDLOMADICL(at)ex1.eemea.ericsson.se
