Ericsson’s leadership team presented the company’s plans and long-term outlook for growth at the annual Investor Day in Stockholm.

Three Ericsson employees who submitted in all 275 patents within radio technology have been named “Inventors of the Year.” It is the 17th consecutive year that Ericsson puts the spotlight on individuals with exceptional ideas and contributions to the company’s industry-leading patent portfolio.

There are many misleading reports published on patent strength. To help clear up some misconceptions, Ericsson has funded an analyst report on the subject, which discusses the various attempts to estimate patent holdings for LTE. It also discusses the impact on development of the standard and its correlation to essential patent holdings. Here, Mike Thelander, CEO and founder of the analyst firm Signals Research Group in California, explains his findings.
