Automatic Device Configuration lets operators serve users with instant action based on device-detection information from the core network.
With Automatic Device Configuration (ADC), operators can take instant action with device-detection information from the core network. The first step is to identify all services being subscribed to and check whether the device can run these services. Then the correct configuration details are automatically provided to the mobile device over-the-air.
Operators will get tools to optimize experience by taking the initiative to inform users about available services and making them work. The following are examples of device content that can be managed: configuration, bookmarks, firmware and applications.

Ease of use is vital for successful expansion into new user segments. Experience shows that this leads to a higher uptake of at least 25 percent by user segments when the operator has made sure that devices are properly configured for multimedia services.
For person-to-person services, such as MMS, the ADC ensures the user is immediately provisioned, making it possible to send and receive messages from day one.
Also, the hassles of finding the right settings and how to enter them are removed.
