Today, Ericsson operates as a Market Unit in this Region and overseas operations for India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan & Maldives. Headquartered at Gurgaon, Ericsson today has approx 4000 team members & 24 offices within the Market Unit. From basic telephony, intelligent networks, datacom and the most advanced telecom integration and services to mobile office applications and multimedia communications, Ericsson offers a complete spectrum of telecom solutions in India. Ericsson has played a major role in spreading the cellular revolution in the region. Ericsson today has a market share of approximately 40% of the GSM market in India.
Ericsson has established itself as the leader in Managed Services & today manages 15 circles across India for Bharti. In addition to this, we have business relationships with other operators like Vodafone, BSNL, Idea, Maxis, Reliance & Tatatele Services to support management of their networks at multiple locations. These successful relationships have helped us to have a PAN India footprint, as our equipment is based out of customer locations.
Further to this, Ericsson has seen a tremendous growth during the last couple of years in the field of Multi Media Solutions particularly Charging & Mediation.
Leveraging on this success, Ericsson plans to quickly expand its Services Business by offering Hosting and Network Management Services to other customers in the Market Unit.
Ericssons' production facility at Jaipur, manufactures Radio Base Stations & Switching equipment. The Facility also manufactures Broadband (DSLAM) equipment & is involved in production and testing of Digital Transit Exchange (DTAX) for Public and Private sector operators.
The Market Unit, on behalf of the Global R&D organisation is also carrying out software R&D activities in the areas of IN and Charging at Gurgaon and Chennai. It also hosts a Global Service Delivery Centre (GSDC) comprising of System Integration Competence Centre (SICC) & Global Network Operations Centre (G-NOC), at Gurgaon. SICC provides integration capabilities for complex telecom projects to Ericsson’s global customers and G-NOC supports network management not only for Indian operators but also customers aboard.
