In a significant step toward its goal of providing the world’s most complete and flexible mobile commerce service, Ericsson today announced a partnership with Eurogiro that will allow more than 60 major banking groups and postal organizations worldwide to transact across Ericsson’s M-Commerce Interconnect service. This partnership adds global reach and flexibility to Ericsson’s m-commerce solutions.
Simply put, M-Commerce gives those without bank accounts access to a new world of goods and services, and allows those who do have bank accounts to safely and securely control their finances while on the move.
More than a third of the world’s population has no access to bank services. However, 5 billion people have a mobile-phone subscription. An m-commerce ecosystem can bridge the gap, bank the unbanked and under-banked, and bring together all relevant stakeholders to provide financial services via the mobile device.
