Ericsson Application Awards
Welcome to the Ericsson Application Awards – an opportunity for developers to gain exposure within the telecom world, a chance to reach out to customers via Ericsson distribution channels and a chance to win €25,000 in prize money.
The competition is global with two categories: one for students and one for companies.
The theme for 2013 was "Apps for City Life". It was chosen to promote innovations towards the Networked Society by connecting people, things and places to empower individuals and society.
Keynote speakers were:
Erik Kruse, Strategic Marketing Manager & Networked Society Evangelist at Group Function Sales & Marketing, Ericsson. He is driving the company’s Networked Society vision and developing insights in the Networked Society Lab.
Henrik Thomé, CEO at Sonetel. He is a serial entrepreneur within telecom and internet. Sonetel is his 7th venture and has attracted customers in 145 countries

Prizes
First prize winner - student category
GreenSpark from Portugal. Their application reduces the complexity of maintaining and monitoring a household solar-power system.
First prize winner - company category
Therapy Box from the UK. Their application has the ability to learn based on the user’s usage pattern. It draws from a phrase bank to give users instant access to messages so they can quickly get help, interrupt a conversation or join in a discussion.
