People want an enriched communication experience – anywhere, anytime and with any device. With Ericsson IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) technology, operators can deliver that experience cost-efficiently, while growing revenues.
Ericsson has, to date, delivered 64 IMS networks into commercial operation, establishing itself as the world’s most-experienced IMS partner. Many of these projects involved rapid transformation of large networks. With this kind of intensive practical experience, Ericsson can offer operators a safer investment in IMS, due to shorter implementation times, reduced risk and global best-practices sharing.
Since 2005, when Ericsson launched the world’s first commercial IMS network, we have completed close to 20 large-scale deployments, with networks serving anything from several hundred thousand users up to 6 million.
More than 650 Ericsson IMS nodes are in commercial live-service, which makes our IMS system the world’s most field-proven. Node and network level redundancy, coupled with the unique Dynamic Subscriber Allocation functionality, ensures 99.999 percent availability. The M+N architecture ensures cost efficiency and high scalability.
We offer solutions for revenue growth and opex reduction:
Ericsson IMS nodes boast the highest capacity on the market, considering the functions needed in a normal traffic situation. Their capacity efficiency decreases energy consumption, floor space and the number of nodes which must be operated and managed.
All Ericsson control nodes run on the same Ericsson Blade System, and the media plane functions are uniquely combined in the Ericsson Media Resource System. Common hardware allows operators to co-locate different nodes in a cabinet, minimize spare-part investment and reuse hardware in different nodes, based on varying capacity needs.
The very same system is used for fixed and mobile networks, which ensures convergence and further minimizes network complexity.
Realizing the potential of IMS requires planning and a structured approach to implementation. In addition to the pre-integrated network system, our offering includes Consulting, System Integration, Managed Services, Network Deployment and Integration, and Education and Support Services. It also ensures that the applications have the interoperability, quality of service and security needed to ensure mass market take-up.
Ericsson Call Session Control Function (CSCF) is at the heart of the IMS system. It manages all the signaling from end-user to services and other networks.
