Our strategy is to earn the trust of our stakeholders by reducing corporate responsibility risks throughout our business operations. Good governance and strong business ethics are embedded in our value chain, from supply chain management to our own operations to responsible use of our products. All our business practices, from a rigorous sales compliance process to zero tolerance for corruption, are aligned with our Code of Business Ethics, anchored in universal values of human rights. By engaging with stakeholders, we are better able to manage emerging ethical dilemmas.
Governance and business ethics
Demonstrating integrity and upholding the same high ethical standards wherever we operate are strongly rooted within Ericsson’s corporate culture. Good governance builds trust with stakeholders, ensures accountability across the Group and helps us manage our corporate responsibility risks.
Ericsson’s Code of Business Ethics and we work hard to embed it throughout our business operations.
As a signatory to the UN Global Compact, Ericsson aspires to fulfill its 10th principle , namely to: “work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.”
Effective management of the environmental and social impacts of our supply chain is a top priority. Our suppliers worldwide are required to meet the Ericsson Supplier Code of Conduct requirements, based on the principles of the United Nations Global Compact, and the Ericsson Supplier Environmental Requirements. Responsible sourcing includes restricting or banning certain types of materials that do not meet our requirements. Among others things, Ericsson is taking steps to increase the transparency regarding “conflict minerals” in our supply chain.
Occupational Health and Safety
A strong health and safety culture, backed by a rigorous system of responsibility and accountability, is a top priority at Ericsson. Beyond regulatory compliance, a robust global approach to occupational health and safety (OHS) delivers business benefits through reduced costs, improved morale and increased productivity. Customer demands for OHS excellence are also increasing.
Ericsson employs rigid product testing and installation procedures to ensure that radio wave exposure levels from our products and network solutions are below established safety limits. We also support independent research to further knowledge about radio waves and health.
Responsible, positive change in Myanmar
Of Myanmar’s estimated 60 million people, only 1 million have a mobile phone and fewer than 400,000 have internet access. Ericsson strongly believes that access to telecommunications would benefit the people, economy and society of Myanmar. With a re-established presence in Myanmar, we are collaborating with human rights experts to assess the human rights situation, with the aim of bringing positive, responsible change to the country.
