Open Mobile Alliance
Ericsson is one of the founding members of the Open Mobile Alliance and is actively involved in the group since it was formed on June 12, 2002. OMA is the first standardization group to address the entire value chain and has over 300 members.

OMA focuses mainly on creating interoperable service enablers rather than just a stack of protocols. The idea is to offer enabling technology for delivering relevant, end-to-end, interoperable, high-performance services. OMA provides various parties interested in service layer functionality with the means of developing end-to-end interoperable services while taking into account the true needs of the market and complying with business requirements.

Ericsson plays an active role in many of the working groups within OMA. Ericsson’s location enabler, G-MPC, is resulting from specifications now owned by the OMA Location working group. Ericsson's MMS solution is based on specifications created in OMA and 3GPP and was successfully tested at OMA's interoperability events held in June 2003.
