Enriched Messaging
Messaging is changing – it has to keep up with changing consumer behavior. Internet and mobile-savvy users want new ways to communicate – they want rich messaging, in addition to MMS and SMS. Meet these demands with our Rich Communication Suite.
- Enriched messaging brings mobility to the internet user experience, giving your subscribers richer communication.
- Social networking and virtual communities are driving demand for enriched messaging such as video sharing, buddy lists and instant messaging, and users are willing to pay to access these services on their mobile.
- With 3 billion active users, SMS is the most widely used data application in the world and other forms of messaging are gaining in popularity. Take your offering to the next level with enriched messaging.
Social networking and virtual communities are driving the widespread demand for instant messaging, video sharing and buddy lists. Consumers expect their mobile operator to deliver rich presence, rich chat, tightly integrated contacts and notifications, file transfer, networked address books and multi-session functionality.
But before rich communications can take off like SMS, a lot of groundwork is needed. We are an active player in the GSMA Rich Communication Suite, a joint industry effort to establish a core set of rich communications features that will be universally interoperable, regardless of device, platform or network.
Fully aligned with this effort is Ericsson’s Rich Communication Suite, which has been built using the extensive knowledge we have gained from customer projects and our consumer research studies.
Meanwhile, SMS and MMS will continue to grow along with voice SMS, which supports all handsets and is perfect for messages that are too short for phone conversations and too long to text. The application has particularly strong potential in emerging markets, where SMS is a key part of commerce.
We are invloved in the GSMA RCS IOT (interoperability testing) with both our network solution and our RCS trial client, to secure interworking on both the server and the terminal side.
