Overview of process and timeline
Judging Process

Stage 1:
Submit written proposal

  • Deadline for submitting written proposals is at 5pm on March 15, 2008.
  • Proposals must be submitted via email to cr.malaysia@ericsson.com using the official entry form . 
  • Participants can submit as many written proposals as they wish at this stage for judges’ consideration and evaluation. However, only one entry from each company / faculty in the educational institution will be selected (if qualified) to proceed to the next stage.
  • Participants with more than one entry must use a new entry form for every submission.
  • A panel of professional judges will review all the submissions to select 10 semifinalists in each category (Students and Professionals)

Stage 2:
Proposal Presentation (Semi-finals)

  • All 20 semifinalists will be invited to do a 15-minute presentation (excluding the Question and Answer session) on their proposal to the judges.
  • Details of the schedule and venue of the pitching session will be provided to the participants two weeks prior to the session.
  • The pitching session carries 30% of the total competition scores.
  • At the pitching session, FOUR teams from each category will be selected as the finalists.

Stage 3:
Prototype development and presentation (Finals)

  • As finalists, the participants will be required to develop the prototype of their applications within three months (1 May - 31 July, 2008).
  • The final schedule and venue to present the prototype will be communicated to the finalists two weeks prior to the event.
  • This session carries 70% of the total competition scores.

 

Judging Criteria

All written proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • Overall criteria:
    · Meet the primary objective of the competition, i.e.: to develop compelling applications that can positively impact the well-being of our communities.
    · All entries will be judged equally regardless of access technologies (fixed or mobile applications).
    · All entries will also be judged equally regardless of user group (application for community with special needs or for general public).
    · Creativity and innovation of application which includes novelty of idea.

Announcement of winners: September 2008
  • A champion from each category will be selected as the recipient of the 'Best Application Award' in the MSC Malaysia - Ericsson CR Innovation Awards 2008.
  • Other finalists will receive a Merit Award for their participation and efforts in the competition.
