Sun Cellular selects Ericsson's Mobile E-mail Solution

Sun Cellular customers will now have access to personal and corporate e-mail, as well as other Personal Information Management data while on the move. This is enabled by Ericsson’s mobile e-mail solution called the Ericsson Mobile Organiser (EMO). Ericsson will be responsible for the end-to-end system integration, as well as the hosting and management of the platform.

“In today’s competitive environment, it is important for our customers to have access to important information as and when they want it, and to be connected to this information via a reliable platform while they are on the move,” says Charles Lim, Chief Executive Officer of Sun Cellular.

“Companies want solutions that are simple to implement and use, and flexible enough to respond to future requirements. We are pleased that Ericsson is able to work with us in fulfilling the needs of our customers in this regard,” he adds.

Rajendra Pangrekar, Country Manager of Ericsson Philippines, says that through EMO, Sun Cellular customers will gain easy access to corporate communications and information resources, regardless of location, time or access device.

“We are pleased to be able to offer another hosted service to meet the growing needs of Sun Cellular’s customers, and we are confident that we will be able to offer more such services further down the road,” says Pangrekar, adding that Ericsson’s Enterprise Division was totally focused on developing a strong portfolio of mobile data solutions that addresses the needs of our enterprise and operator customers.
Unlike other offerings in the market, EMO is a true “Push” solution that offers up-to-date information without the requirement for proprietary hardware and special devices. E-mails, calendar updates and meeting requests are automatically delivered to the user via the mobile network and changes in the mobile device’s inbox are instantly mirrored in the user’s desktop mailbox.

Ericsson’s mobile e-mail solution offers simplicity, openness, security and low total cost of ownership. There is no need to purchase a particular mobile device because EMO supports a wide-range of terminals. E-mail attachments can be downloaded, read and edited by the user and installation and maintenance are also designed to be as straightforward as possible.

EMO is Sun Cellular’s second Managed Hosting solution with Ericsson over the past 12 months. The first was for the integration, implementation and hosting of Sun Cellular’s video streaming service.
“Our relationship with Ericsson continues to strengthen over time,” says Lim. “We look forward to a further strengthening our partnership that will bring growth to both our companies.”

This hosted EMO service is part of Ericsson’s Managed Services (Hosting) offering. This offering makes it easier for operators to offer attractive content for their customers and bring the service to market quickly, while controlling capital and operational costs.
