Summarizing the views of her afternoon breakout session, Hong Kong businesswoman Christine Loh said there was a common need for a discussion platform – a stage where policy makers, private companies, NGOs and others could gather to coordinate educational initiatives.
Such initiatives need to take place on a local, national and global level, said Loh, adding that the business models will vary according to the context. In order to define these models, she explained, there is a clear need to identify and understand which areas of education are non-competitive so that various stakeholders could set aside their differences and initiate joint efforts aimed at serving common interests. What does society need, the participants asked one another, and how can the ICT sector design for this?
